How to convert a Scalextric car to digital
Every Scalextric digital conversion comes down to one question: is the car Digital Plug Ready (DPR) or not? The answer decides which of the three manufacturer-listed chips you need.
Step 1 — check whether the car is DPR
DPR cars have a plug socket in the chassis. SlotFits car pages state this per car: a car listed as requiring the C8515 or C8516 is DPR, while a car listed as requiring the C7005 needs the retro-fit chip. See what DPR means for the background.
Step 2 — pick the verified chip
DPR car: the C8515 EasyFit Digital Plug plugs straight in. DPR Formula 1 car (2008 or later livery): the C8516 Formula 1 Digital Plug. Non-DPR car: the C7005 Digital Conversion Chip, a retro-fit installation.
Step 3 — run it on a digital system
The converted car runs on Scalextric Digital (SSD) or Scalextric ARC Pro. Note that some products are explicitly listed as not compatible with Scalextric Digital — for example the C1415P Spark Plug set carries a manufacturer-stated “No” for ARC Pro / Digital compatibility. Always check the individual page before assuming a conversion path exists.
